Who We Are

Your Hosts

Hi there! We’re Bert & Kris Eyler, the proud parents of three grown kids and the hosts of Country Roads Cabin here at Snowshoe Mountain.

We bought this cabin as a place to gather with family and friends, and it quickly became our favorite escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. There’s just something about the peace and quiet of the mountains — the fresh air, the starry skies, the sound of the wind through the trees — that helps you slow down and truly relax.

After spending time here ourselves, we decided we wanted to share that feeling with others. Hosting gives us the chance to welcome new friends into our home-away-from-home, and we love knowing our cabin has been part of so many memorable getaways.

We manage the property ourselves so every guest feels taken care of, and we’ll send you a digital guidebook before your trip that’s loaded with tips about the cabin, the resort, and all the things to see and do around Snowshoe.

Our hope is simple: that your stay here is stress-free, comfortable, and full of the kind of memories that make you want to come back again.

We can’t wait to host you!

— Bert & Kris

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you allow pets?
As much as we love pets, we’re unfortunately not able to allow them at the cabin. Two of our children have severe allergies to pet dander, and we also use the cabin ourselves. We hope you understand, and we truly appreciate your cooperation in keeping the space safe and comfortable for everyone
Do you allow early check in?
Although we can’t guarantee early check-in (especially during the busy winter season when back-to-back reservations are common), we’ll certainly do our best to accommodate your request if the cabin is ready ahead of schedule. We’ll keep you updated closer to your arrival date, and if early check-in becomes available, we’ll be happy to let you know.
Do you allow late check-out?
Due to the strict schedule of our cleaning team (especially during the busy winter season), we’re not able to allow late check-outs. Check-out time is 10:00 AM, and we kindly ask that all guests depart by then so we have enough time to prepare the cabin for the next arrival. Thank you for understanding and helping us keep everything running smoothly.
What is your cancellation policy?
We do have a strict cancellation policy, and while we understand that unexpected things can arise, we’re not able to make exceptions. For your peace of mind, we highly recommend purchasing low-cost travel insurance. We will send you a link to a travel protection company after you book. This will help protect your trip investment in case of illness, weather disruptions, or other unforeseen circumstances
Do you provide linens, towels, and toiletries?
Yes! We provide fresh linens, towels, and basic toiletries for your stay — and more. You’ll also find extra blankets, pillows, and handy supplies like paper towels, toilet paper, zip-top bags, chip clips, and more. For anything that might have slipped your mind, we’ve even put together an ‘Oops, I Forgot’ basket with a few essentials. Our goal is to make sure you feel comfortable and at home from the moment you arrive
Is the kitchen fully stocked (pots, pans, spices, coffee)?
Yes! The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, bakeware, utensils, dishes, and glassware — everything you’ll need to prepare meals during your stay. We also provide basics like cooking oil, spices. You’ll even find extras like a crockpot, blender, and baking sheets to make cooking at the cabin easy and enjoyable.
Is there a hot tub, and how often is it cleaned?
Yes! The cabin has a private hot tub, and it is cleaned and sanitized after each guest. The water is tested for proper chemical balance, and our cleaning team even provides a photo for quality assurance. You can relax knowing the hot tub is fresh, clean, and ready for your stay. Please note that, as with any professionally maintained hot tub, some people may experience mild skin sensitivity to the cleaning chemicals used.
How many cars can we park at the property?
The property can accommodate up to three vehicles — one small car in the garage and two in the driveway. There is no street parking allowed. Any vehicles parked on Timbers Lane will be booted, and a $250 fee will be charged to remove the boot at the guest’s/car owner’s expense. Any additional vehicles must be parked in the adjacent Snowshoe parking lot, which is monitored by the resort and requires a fee.
Is 4WD required in the winter months?
Rear-wheel drive vehicles may have difficulty accessing the property in the winter months. Yes, 4WD or AWD is strongly recommended during the winter season. Snowshoe Mountain receives heavy snowfall, and the roads can be steep, icy, and challenging to navigate. While the roads are paved and well maintained, all guests should be prepared for winter driving conditions. Vehicles without 4WD/AWD and proper tires often struggle to access the property. For your safety and peace of mind, we highly recommend coming prepared with a 4WD/AWD vehicle during the winter season. Please note that in periods of heavy snow, Snowshoe Resort may require tire chains — even for 4WD vehicles — to access certain areas of the mountain.
How far is the cabin from Snowshoe Resort / ski slopes / hiking trails?
The cabin is located right at Snowshoe Mountain, so you’ll be close to everything the resort has to offer. The ski lift, Soaring Eagle, is a very short walk from the cabin. The free shuttle ride stop is just 25 steps from the cabin. Hiking trails are easily accessible throughout the resort and surrounding Monongahela National Forest. You’ll have the perfect base for both winter skiing and summer adventures.
Do you allow guests to use Split Rock Pools or Lake Shavers?
Yes! Guests have access to both Split Rock Pools and Lake Shavers. Snowshoe Resort allows non-resort renters to enjoy Split Rock Pools for a daily fee, which includes indoor/outdoor swimming, hot tubs, and a sauna. Lake Shavers is also open to guests for fishing, boating, and other outdoor activities during the warmer months — a perfect spot to relax and take in the mountain scenery. Visit https://www.snowshoemtn.com/things-to-do/activities/split-rock-pools for more information.
Do you allow parties or events?
We do not allow parties, large gatherings, or events at the cabin. Our home is designed for families and small groups to relax and enjoy the mountain, and we want to keep it a safe, comfortable environment for all guests and neighbors. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway to enjoy the resort and outdoors, this is the perfect spot!
Do you allow smoking/vaping inside?
No, smoking or vaping of any kind is allowed inside the cabin. This includes tobacco, e-cigarettes, and any other substances. If you wish to smoke, please do so outside and dispose of cigarette butts responsibly. Evidence of smoking inside will result in a cleaning/deodorizing fee, as we must ensure the cabin remains fresh and comfortable for all guests.
Is there a keyless entry or do we need to meet someone for check-in?
The cabin has a keyless entry system, so you won’t need to meet anyone for check-in. A unique code will be provided before your arrival, making it easy and convenient for you to check in anytime after 4:00 PM.
Is the cabin safe for children (baby gates, cribs, high chairs)
Yes, the cabin is family-friendly! We provide a high chair and a pack ’n play/portable crib to help make your stay easier with little ones. While we do our best to provide these conveniences, please remember that parents/guardians are responsible for supervising children at all times, especially around stairs, the fireplace, and the hot tub.
Do you have cameras on the property? If so, where?
Yes, for safety and security, we have exterior cameras on the property. They are located at the front entry and the rear of the cabin facing the parking lot behind the cabin. There are no cameras inside the cabin or in any private spaces — your privacy is fully respected during your stay.
What happens if there’s a power outage or heavy snowstorm?
Snowshoe Mountain is a true mountain destination, and from time to time power, Internet, or severe snowstorms can cause interruptions. While these outages are outside of our control, we do our best to keep guests comfortable. The cabin is equipped with extra blankets and battery-powered tea lights (located in the office closet). We also provide plenty of board games, puzzles, and card games for all ages to enjoy while you wait for services to be restored. In the event of heavy snow, Snowshoe has plows that maintain the main roads, but travel may be delayed until conditions improve. We always recommend bringing a 4WD/AWD vehicle in winter and packing a little extra patience — mountain weather is part of the adventure!
Is there cell service at the cabin?
Yes. Cell service around the cabin — and around Snowshoe Mountain in general — is very limited. This is due to the nearby Green Bank Observatory, which restricts cell towers within the National Radio Quiet Zone. AT&T tends to have the strongest coverage in certain spots, but Verizon and other carriers are often unreliable. To help keep you connected, the cabin has high-speed Wi-Fi that supports streaming, calling and messaging through apps like FaceTime, WhatsApp, and Wi-Fi calling. We also recommend downloading maps or directions ahead of time, since service on the drive up the mountain is extremely limited.
